From Cesar to August
Sometimes, we would like to say that it’s not the Romans that conquered the Provence, but the Provence which has been able to conquer the heart of the Romans. A century before Jesus, they found a country full of sun, make a deal with the people of the country and settle on these lands blessed by the gods. Their genius builder (ou génie bâtisseur) open new roads and added bridges, cities and buildings to the region: Orange, Vaison-La-Romaine, but also Arles, Nîmes, St Rémy de Provence and others.
